Where should I bring my donation?

Donations for etc . . . can be brought to the rear door of the store, which is located at 1650 US Highway 41, Suite D in Schererville. The back door of etc . . . is marked with a sign. Please press the buzzer by the door, and someone will come to receive your donation. Please wait until someone comes to collect your donation; do not simply leave items outside the door.

How should I package my donation?

Please package smaller items (clothing, decor, books, etc.) in containers that you no longer need. We welcome old storage totes and boxes, but will gladly accept merchandise packed in garbage bags or other disposable containers, as well.   etc . . . cannot supply containers for your donations nor can we return your containers once your donation has been made.

When can I drop off my donation?

Someone is available to receive donations at the following times:

  • Monday thru Saturday 10 am to 3 pm

Please do not drop off donations unless someone is at the store to receive them, and do not leave your donation until someone has come to the door to accept it.

What if I have a donation that is too large for me to transport?

Large items that cannot be transported in a family vehicle are eligible for pick-up by the etc . . . truck. Call the store at (219) 865-5400 to arrange for a pick-up time.

What types of donations does etc . . . accept?

As an upscale resale marketplace, etc . . .  is accepting donations of nearly new and gently used items such as:

  • Clothing of all sizes, including prom dresses and formal wear
  • Accessories – shoes, handbags, jewelry
  • Housewares
  • Linens
  • Sporting/exercise equipment
  • Furniture
  • Decorative and seasonal items

What types of items does etc . . .  NOT accept?

  • Damaged or soiled items
  • Pianos or organs
  • Waterbeds
  • Computers and related items
  • Car seats
  • Recalled items
  • Appliances or electronics that need major repairs

Are donations to etc . . . a resale marketplace tax deductible?

Yes, since etc . . . is a registered 501(c)(3) organization, donations made to the resale shop are tax deductible.

Can I get a receipt for my donation?

Yes, at your request, we will gladly provide you with a signed receipt on which you can itemize your donation.

How can I estimate the value of my donation?

Both the Salvation Army and Goodwill have made extensive charts showing the estimated fair market value of a wide variety of goods. These charts can be accessed online:
